Wannabe Priti Morgan
Removed from a case for political reasons, Debra Morgan acknowledge her newly promoted boss in the lift as “Asshole” then she quickly apologies and corrects herself to “Sergeant Asshole”.
How crisp … How expressive … How appropriate …
And guess what!! it gets better because she is not even the serial killer of the family ..
The series that I am almost in love with is called “Dexter”. It’s about a daytime forensic expert, actually a blood splatter pattern expert who is a serial killer by night. The series depicts beautifully this unusual person with unusual life proceedings, faking to be normal. Debra Morgan is his foul-mouthed cop sister.
From a highly imaginative the title sequence where they depict violence in normal morning chores, to the drama that unfolds with help of very unambiguous dialogues and situations, to the tortuous commentary on life ..almost everything about the serial is thought provoking . Most of the dialogues can be used as quotable quotes because they are nothing but a tangential expression to the wisdom of life.
You will identify with the serial killer and want to have communication skills as effective as his sister. Here the Morgan’s are not only the cool ones. There are many well sketched characters for drama that tingle and tackle your sensibilities…
…And just when I thought I was over the age when I could be so smitten by a TV show...

Calvin and Hobbes
One of the most effective methods of expression is tangential reference to a subject. Also when you talk about a mater infinitely serious, adding humor, make it so much more comprehensible.
The best example of this technique of expression is Calvin and Hobbes. Written and illustrated by Bill Watterson, the imaginative six-year old boy, and Hobbes, his energetic and sardonic stuffed tiger make some interesting observation and analysis on various more serious and mundane aspects of life, society, education and discipline.
The pair is named after John Calvin, a 16th century French Reformation theologian, and Thomas Hobbes, a 17th century English political philosopher. Strips regarding the polls for Calvin father, loop holes in education and all take a very different meaning when we compare the Calvin and Hobbes with their real world counter parts.
Few of my favorite ones:

Guru Dutt
For me movies are special, they are an art of story telling…through the use of actors, camera, lighting, dialogues ,editors … and despite of all the technologies used, the passion of the narrator shows, his understanding of the story and his portrayal of the characters…
Guru Dutt was a director who could not only say different types of stories effectively … but also in highly imaginative and path breaking manner.
Baazi, jaal, Aar paar, Mr. and Mrs. 55 and his signature works in kagaz ke phool and pyaasa are genius strokes of a director…
He was a charming actor, with the ability to spell-bound the audience with a seemingly effortless portrayal … sahib biwi aur ghulam , chaudhvi ka chand , aar paar, pyaasa
Cinema would have been richer, if we had some more works from him… He was a brilliant creative genius as a choreographer, writer, actor and director.

Gulzar Sahab
Sensitivity, expression, aesthetics and creativity at its best. There is no expression he can’t create.
Romance is what he portrays through Tumhen ho na ho in Gharonda to Aap ki aankhon mein kuch in Ghar. And this song from movie Sitaara
thodeesee jameen, thodaa aasamaan
tinakon kaa bas yek aashiyaan
maangaa hain jo tum se wo jyaadaa to naheen hai
dene ko to jaan de de, waadaa to naheen hai
koee tere waadon pe jeetaa hain kahaa
mere ghar ke aangan me, chhotaa saa zoolaa ho
saundhee saundhee mittee hogee, lepaa huaa choolhaa ho
thodee thodee aag hogee, thodaa saa dhuwaan
raat kat jaayegee to kaise din bitaayenge
baajare ke kheton mein kauae udayenge
baajare ke sitton jaise, bete ho jawaan
The first song he penned was for movie Bandini, Mora gora ang le le.
Anguish is what he write is Seene mein jalan, aankhon mein toofan sa kyon hai in Gaman & ek akela is sheher mein in Gharonda & this song from Kinara
Jaane Kya Sochkar Nahin Guzra
Ik Pal Raat Bhar Nahin Guzra
Apni Tanhai Kaa Auron Se Na Shikva Karna - 2
Tum Akele Hi Nahin Ho Sabhi Akele Hain
Ye Akela Safar Nahin Guzra
Jaane Kya Sochkar Nahin Guzra
Ek Pal Raat Bhar Nahin Guzra
Do Ghadi Jeene Ki Mohalat To Mili Hai Sabko - 2
Tum Bhi Mil Jaao Ghadi Bhar To Ye Gam Hota Hai
Is Ghadi Ka Safar Nahin Guzra
Jaane Kya Sochkar Nahin Guzra
Ek Pal Raat Bhar Nahin Guzra
Jaane Kya Sochkar Nahin Guzra
Longing is Tere bina jindagi se koi in Aandhi & Koi hota jisko apna in Mere apane & E ajnabi in Dil se & this song from movie Khamoshi
tum pukaar lo, tumhaaraa intajaar hain
khwaab chun rahee hain raat bekaraar hain
honthh pe liye huye, dil kee baat hum
jaagate rahenge aaur, kitanee raat hum
muftasar see baat hai, tum se pyaar hain
tumhaaraa intajaar hain.. ..
dil bahal to jaayegaa, is khayaal se
haal mil gayaa tumhaaraa, apane haal se
raat ye karaar kee, bekaraar hain
tumhaaraa intajaar hainn.. ..
Life's inspiration is Musafir hoon yarron in Parichay & Naam gum jayega in Kinara & this song in Khoshboo
o maazee re, o maazee re
apanaa kinaaraa, nadiyaan kee dhaaraa hai
saahilon pe bahanewaale kabhee sunaa to hogaa kahee
kaagajon kee kashteeyon kaa kahee kinaaraa hotaa nahee
o maazee re, maazee re
koee kinaaraa, jo kinaare se mile wo apanaa kinaaraa hai
paaneeyon mein bah rahe hai, kaee kinaare toote huye
raasaton mein mil gaye hain sabhee sahaaree chhoote huye
koee sahaaraa mazadhaare mein mile jo apanaa sahaaraa hai
Dialouges are what he penned for Anand
Direction is movie called Kinara
Gazal is what he writes in Aankhon mein jal raha hai kyon & Shaam se aankh mein nami si hai &
ek puraanaa mausam lauTaa yaad bharii puravaa_ii bhii aisaa to kam hii hotaa hai vo bhii ho tanahaa_ii bhii
yaado.n kii bauchhaaro.n se jab palake.n bhiigane lagatii hai.n kitanii sau.Ndhii lagatii hai tab maa.Njhii kii rusavaa_ii bhii

Poem is what he pens and the way he narrates mujhe ko bhi takeeb seekha de yaar julahe
Masti is Kajra re in Bunty aur babli
IMHO, he defines Expression itself like this song from Aandhi
is mod se jaate hai, kuchh sust kadam raste
kuchh tej kadam raahe
patthar kee hawelee ko, sheeshe ke gharondo me
tinako ke nasheman tak
is mod se jaate hai...
aandhee kee tarah udakar, yek raah gujaratee hai
sharamaatee huyee koee, kadamo se utaratee hai
in reshamee raaho me, yek raah to wo hogee
tum tak jo pahuchatee hai
is mod se jaate hai..
yek door se aatee hai, paas aake palatatee hai
yek raah akelee see, rukatee hain naa chalatee hai
ye soch ke baithhee hoo, yek raah to wo hogee
tum tak jo pahuchatee hai
is mod se jaate hai.. ..
"seene mein jalan" ... lyrics by Akhlaq Mohammed Khan ‘Shahryar’
seene mein jalan aankhon mein tufaan saa kyon hain ?
is shahar mein har shaks pareshaan saa kyon hain ?
dil hain to, dhadakane kaa bahaanaa koee dhoondhe
patthar kee tarah beheesa-o-bejaan saa kyon hain ?
tanahaee kee ye kaunasee, manzil hain rafeekon
taa-hadd-ye-najar yek bayaabaan saa kyon hain ?
kyaa koee nayee baat najar aatee hain hum me
aaeenaa humei dekh ke hairaan saa kyon hain ?
This is song from movie "Gaman" ; music director "Jaidev" ; Singer "Suresh Wadkar"
